Wings of Peace Gallery
Lenses and Light --Images Through a Photographer's Eyes-- by Denise Sturmwind
November 25 -- December 15th
'Lenses and Light' represents a body of work completed over the last few years in locations as varied as Death Valley California, the American Southwest including New Mexico and southern Utah, as well as Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. Many of the images were taken closer to home - Pacific Rim National Park on the west coast of Vancouver Island, and Hornby Island.
All the images in the show were shot in traditional 35 mm format, with an SLR camera using professional slide film.
This collection of images reflects Denise's passion for the natural world and its varied textures, patterns and colors. Her long-standing interest in, and love of, clay work draws her to local potter's studios to capture light playing on clay.
This show is dedicated to Denise's beloved father, Ralph Barer, who passed away just over a year ago. He was her mentor, role-model, and inspiration in nature, and would be very proud to see her show hanging in the Wings of Peace Gallery.
