Hebrew School
- Students are kindergarten aged (5 years old) to B'nei Mitzvah (13
years-old).
- As part of the Conservative Movement, we promote an egalitarian approach
to Judaism; strong ties to Israel; and a sense of community.
- We encourage family participation in workshops, Shabbat dinners, and
Shabbat services.
- Congregation Emanu-El's Hebrew School is blessed to have an excellent
staff of committed and inspiring teachers and assistants.
- Parent Committee sets school policies and oversees the smooth running
of school.
- Children with special learning needs are supported by assistants in
the classroom.
Our goal is to create knowledgeable and committed
Jewish adults by:
- giving the students opportunities to interact with other Jewish children
of all ages, thus helping them to create their own community within
the larger Jewish community;
- exposing the students to the basics of being Jewish by studying Torah,
biblical and modern Hebrew, the holidays, and modern Jewish history;
- developing a strong sense of values and ethics based on Jewish sources;
- providing the opportunity for students in grade five and six to compete
in the annual National Bible Contest, held in Montreal or Toronto.
