A Glimpse into Contemporary Iran

Presented by Andrew Wender, PhD (UVic)
Dr. Andrew Wender teaches political science at the University of Victoria and is a recognized expert on the nexus of religion and politics in modern day Iran. Andrew will teach us about the richness of Persian culture and history, including how Persia became Iran, the fall of the Shah, and the influence of Shia Islam on Iranian culture. The goal of this learning is for us to better understand the textures and complexities of Iran through its history, culture, politics and religions.
Thursday, April 29th – 7:30 pm at the shul.

Explore Tai-Chi and Kung Fu with Master Jared Wolk and Rabbi Harry.

Sundays at the Shul starting January 17, 2010 at 1:00 pm.

We will work on mind-body integration as we integrate kung-fu into Jewish spiritual ideas and practices. This class is primarily for youth but all who are interested in learning are welcome and invited to participate in this cutting edge program.
Bring water, a snack and a blanket or yoga mat. Please contact R. Harry with any questions.
